2. The app (BetterMacWidgets)

BetterMacWidgets contains no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising SDKs. All widget data (notes, settings, layouts, photos) stays on your Mac. The app only talks to the network where a widget's feature requires it:

• Weather: forecasts from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com). Your coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch the forecast; if you use a custom city, only that city's coordinates are sent.
• Approximate location fallback: if precise location is unavailable, the app asks ipapi.co (fallback: ipwho.is) for a city-level estimate based on your IP. No identifier other than your IP is transmitted.
• Now Playing artwork: track lookups against Spotify's public oEmbed endpoint and Apple's iTunes Search API (track/artist name only).
• License check: when you activate Pro, the app sends your license key and a hardware identifier (IOPlatformUUID) to our server to bind the license to one Mac.
• Updates: the app checks our Sparkle appcast feed for new versions (standard HTTP request, no personal data).

Location access is optional. The weather widget works with a manually chosen city or the approximate IP-based estimate if you decline the macOS location prompt.

3. This website

• Hosting: Vercel Inc. (server logs with IP addresses are kept briefly by Vercel for operation and security — Art. 6 (1) f GDPR).
• Aggregate analytics: Vercel Analytics without cookies and without cross-site tracking.
• Download counter: when you download the DMG we store a timestamp, your country (coarse, from Vercel's geo header) and the referring page — never your IP address.
• Payment: purchases are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Your name, email and payment details go directly to Stripe; we receive your email and the purchase reference to issue your license (Art. 6 (1) b GDPR).
• Email: transactional email (license delivery, support replies) is sent via MailerSend (an EU email provider). Your email address is processed solely for that purpose.
• Support: if you open a ticket, we store name, email and your message until the request is resolved.
• Cookies: one cookie for your language choice, one for the owner login. No advertising or tracking cookies.

4. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact: Nico.Sagolla@gmx.de.

5. Retention

License records are kept as long as the license is valid (lifetime) plus statutory retention periods for invoices. Support tickets are deleted after resolution. Download statistics contain no personal data.
